Day 05 / Jaipur

Ajaipal Chauhan. He named it Ajaimeru the 'invincible hill', because here he raised Taragarh, India's first hill fort. The city's Muslim history began when Prithviraj Chauhan lost Ajmer to Sultan Muhammad Ghori in 1193 A.D. The Persian saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti who came with Muhammad Ghori from Persia in 1192 settled here. Thus the place where he was buried is today known as the Dargah Sharif. Construction of the shrine was completed by Humayun and the gates were added by the 
Nizam of Hyderabad. Later Shah Jahan constructed a mosque of white marble, it has 11 arches and a Persian inscription running the full length of the building. Beyond the Dargah is the Adhai din ka Jhonpra an ancient Sanskrit college, which was converted into mosque in 1198 and remains one of the finest monuments of medieval India. Most of Agra is on the West bank of river Yamuna, with the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal at its nucleus. Taj Mahal is quite simply one of mankind's most remarkable creations. After early breakfast, we drive at 0800 hrs to Taj Mahal built by emperor Shahjahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Next we visit Agra Fort. Later in the afternoon we leave for Sikandara, Akbar's tomb. Day 06 : Arrive Varanasi

The present name is derived from the fact that the city is at the confluence of the rivers Varuna & Asi.Afternoon, excursion to Sarnath - the buried Buddhist city where Buddha preached his first sermon. After attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya the Buddha went to Sarnath; and it was here that he preached his first discourse in the deer park to set in motion the 'Wheel of the Dharma'. It is one of the most holy sites as in this place the stream of the Buddha's teaching first flowed. Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from 16th century BC to 12th century AD. Day 07 : Varanasi
